The role of rope strands on the rope take-up machine

The process of arranging the rope strands in a helical line around the center line of the rope core on the rope closing machine to produce a wire rope. The rope must be closed in strict accordance with the provisions of the wire rope manufacturing process. After the rope closing machine is selected, the rope strands should be carefully selected. The specification, structure, twist direction (see the wire rope twist method), and length of the strands should meet the requirements of the wire rope manufacturing card. After the strand is selected, install the strand-carrying I-spool on the I-spool wheel frame of the rope closing machine. The installation of the I-shaped wheel, the threading method of the strands, the adjustment of the twisting parameters and the twisting operation in the rope closing process are the same as those of the strands. Compared with twisted strands, the twisted rope is only different in the twisting process. The twisting of steel wire ropes is divided into three types: single-twist wire rope twisting, double-twisting wire rope twisting and triple-twisting wire rope twisting.

The twisting method and twisting process of single-strand steel wire rope are basically the same as those of strands of the same structure, the only difference being that in single-strand steel wire rope, the twist directions of the steel wires surrounding each twisted layer outside the rope core are alternated. If the twist direction is changed, the twist direction is determined according to the twist direction of the outer steel wire. Sealed steel wire rope is a single-strand steel wire rope, and the twisting method is similar to that of twisting a round-strand single-strand steel wire rope. The twisting of the special-shaped steel wire outside the core of the sealed steel wire rope is generally completed on special equipment.

Double-twist wire ropes are usually made from 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8 strands. It can reach up to 36 strands, with many varieties and complex structures. It is the most widely used wire rope. The most common application is the double-twist wire rope consisting of 6 strands. The double-twisted steel wire rope with medium and fine specifications can be twisted by the tubular twister. Thick gauge wire ropes, especially co-twist wire ropes (see wire rope twisting method), are twisted by basket-type rope closing machines. The special-shaped strand wire rope can be twisted by special equipment, or the round strands can be deformed into special-shaped strands on the ordinary rope closing machine and then twisted into wire ropes. The surface contact wire rope can be manufactured by the special-shaped wire rope twisting method or by the plastic compression method. The plastic compression method is to subject the round strands to drawing or rolling during twisting, so as to plastically deform the steel wires in the strands, change the contact state of the steel wires in the strands, and then use the strands to make steel wire ropes. The twisting of the three-twist wire rope is the same as that of the double-twist wire rope, but the number of twists is increased.

All wire ropes should be twisted so that they are not loose. The non-loose performance of the steel wire rope is achieved by pre-deforming the twisted strands when the rope is closed. The wire rope with metal core can also be heat treated to obtain non-loose properties. In order to improve the mechanical properties and non-loose properties of the wire rope, in addition to the pre-deformation of the strands when the rope is spliced, the strand straightening process is also widely used during the twisting and splicing of the rope to eliminate the twisting stress of the wire rope.

There is a wire rope oiling groove between the traction sheave and the wire take-up device of the rope closing machine to apply oil to the wire rope. After the wire rope is oiled, it is evenly wound on the I-shaped wheel of the wire take-up mechanism through the wire arrangement mechanism. After the twisting is completed, the rope head of the steel wire rope is fastened with soft steel wire and fixed on the I-shaped wheel disc.
